Who We Are

Kerrie Anne (She/Her)

DIRECTOR & FOUNDER

Kerrie began specialising in dementia care as a nurse, which led to her receiving the National Specialist Dementia Nurse of the Year Award in recognition of her work implementing brain-training sessions with her aged care residents.

Kerrie reflected on this achievement and the impact of treating every person as an individual, recognising their existing skills and abilities and supporting them to build greater independence. She began to consider how this approach could be delivered within the community to create meaningful change on a much larger scale.

This is where Get Readii Group began.

Kerrie went on to work with a range of community mental health organisations while, at the same time, developing Get Readii Group into what it is today. Each role helped shape her vision for the organisation. Through these experiences, she identified gaps in service delivery and began developing practical approaches to address them.

She saw organisations where compliance could sometimes take priority over genuine service delivery, choice and control, and where staff wellbeing and morale were often overlooked. Kerrie believed participants should have greater ownership over what their supports looked like and how those supports could adapt as their needs changed.

This included prioritising what was important to each participant, whether that meant being supported to attend appointments, accessing the right services, or having greater choice over when and how they used their funding, within the parameters of their approved budget.

Kerrie also recognised that creating meaningful change starts with supporting the people delivering the services. She has built a culture within Get Readii Group where staff know that the door is always open and that they can access support whenever they need it, at any time of the day.

This philosophy continues to shape Get Readii Group today: putting people first, supporting choice and control, building independence, and ensuring services are genuinely responsive to the people they support.

Stephanie Unterburger (She/Her)

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Steph came into the disability industry while completing a Bachelor of Psychological Science, following several years working for professional services companies in various support and client-facing roles within the private sector. While these roles provided valuable experience in service delivery and achieving outcomes, Steph increasingly felt limited by the lack of time and space for people to truly express what they needed, to be listened to and to be understood. She recognised the significant impact that community-based support could have on a person’s recovery, confidence and independence. Through these experiences, she developed a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health and disability systems, housing, employment, community connection and the many services that people are required to navigate. She also saw the enormous potential of support workers when they are given the opportunity to learn, develop their skills and understand the broader picture of a participant’s life.

Our Shared Vision

It was here that Steph and Kerrie found they shared the same vision. Both had seen the gaps in how services were delivered, and both believed things could be done better. Together, they set out to build an organisation that not only supports participants in their recovery, but also invests in its support workers — giving them the time, knowledge and confidence to understand each participant’s life in the community, and to work alongside the medical, allied health and community services that help people thrive.
